Principal
Jonathan Finlay has built companies and been brought in to fix them. That dual vantage point, as a founder and as the person brought in to professionalize companies scaling past what one leader can hold together, is what Finlay Consulting is built on, and what separates the work from advice that comes from only one side of the table.
In 2018, he founded Canvas Print Photos, a direct-to-consumer e-commerce business he built from zero revenue to a profitable exit, with direct oversight of production, marketing, finance, and operations. Before that and since, he has spent over a decade inside growing companies, often as the first senior marketing hire, and more recently as the operations lead reporting directly to the founder, and as a strategic adviser to c-suite leaders at professional associations, real estate brokerages, and scaling software companies.
at Bosley–Toronto Realty Group, he built the marketing function from scratch, developed the "Make it Easy" brand platform, and launched and produced 53 episodes of The Last Honest Realtor podcast, which drew 2,300+ views within 24 hours of its debut, and grew from there. His performance marketing campaigns achieved a 10–12% click-through rate at $0.09 average cost-per-click (four to six times above real estate industry benchmarks) while cloud-based creative workflows he implemented cut internal feedback cycles by more than 60%.
He currently leads Operations and Retention for a scaling software company, reporting directly to the founder. In that engagement, he built a retention program that improved the company's churn-save rate from below 10% to 50%, surfaced $539,000 in at-risk recurring revenue the company had no prior visibility into, cut average support response times by 85%, and remediated more than 85,000 crm records to establish the first verified client master the company had.
The companies Jonathan has served share a pattern: they had figured out how to win customers but hadn't yet built the infrastructure to serve them consistently at scale. The founder was still the bottleneck, the processes were ad hoc, and the growth that should have been exciting had started to feel unsustainable. Diagnosing that pattern, and building the systems to resolve it, is what led to the founding of Finlay Consulting.
Jonathan holds a business administration diploma in Marketing from Seneca Polytechnic, where he graduated with High Honours and a 4.0 gpa.
